Two LO's to share:

Hi everybody,

Today I have two things to share:

Song Bird Scraps Challenge example:

Challenge #2 is up at Song Bird Scraps, so if you want to win the February prize pack, go on over there and play along! Here's my example for the challenge:

For this LO I used a piece of cardboard which I tried to strip, but that didn't go very well. The result wasn't to my liking, so I painted it with white gesso, which gave a fabulous result IRL.
I painted the edges with copper (using Adirondack Metallics Arcrylic Paint Dabber), using a piece of mesh as a mask because I still wanted a lot of white to come through.
This pic of me pregnant was of terrible quality, because it was taken against the sun, and all you could see was my silhouette, so I edited the pic in PSE using the "graphic pen" option. I made holes in the upper right corner with my eyelet setter tools, and distressed the edges with Ranger distress inks (walnut stain and black soot). I then glued the pic to the right side of the page.
I cut the papers (Daisy D's - The Autumn Collection) following the shape of my belly, distressed the edges with my scissors, and glued them to the page, as well as the ultra-sound pics, of which I had first sanded the edges.
I then stitched a frame around the edges of the papers and pic and also around part of my silhouette, as I wanted to accentuate my pregant belly.
I cut out the flowers from a pp with my craft knife and added some gems from a local store.
For the title I used American Craft Thickers "Subway".
I added a quote onto the pic: "A mother's joy begins when she feels new life stirring inside".
To finish, I added some corners to the ultrasound pics and added 2 grungeboard hearts from the Tim Holtz mixed minis plain collection. I inked them with Ranger distress inks (worn lipstick and fired brick), and added a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents. You can see a close-up of that result in the sneak peeks in one of my earlier posts. This is really pretty, and I'll doing this again for sure!

Method Playground Challenge #38

For the challenge over at Method Playground, we had to use a collage. I used a collage of some pics my daughter Chloë took of herself. Not bad for an 8-year old huh!
I used 2 Sassafras Lass papers, Woodland Whimsy Rose Thicket and Woodland Whimsy Golden Love. The other papers I used were scraps.
I matted my pics on black cardstock and glued it to the Golden Love paper.
I then glued some light green hobby rope around the Golden Love paper and stitched around it with red and black yarn to add some dimension.
I added some ribbons (the pink is from a local shop and the blue one is from Webster's Pages.
I drew the crown and heart on a piece a cardboard (cereals' packaging), covered it with some bright pink pp and covered the whole surface with Ranger Glossy Accents. This makes it nice and shiny, like you can see here:

I added some felt flowers from a local store, on which I stitched some small red flowers, again to add some extra dimension.

I handwrote the title, coloured it in with regular colouring markers and again added a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents... at this rate, that bottle isn't going to last very long LOL.

The journaling reads:
As soon as I start to take pictures, Chloë wants to take some as well, and she's good at it too! She keeps this up until people start to get fed up with being photographed. She then starts taking pics of her toys, the furniture, ... and of herself. And also those pics always turn out pretty cool!!

TFL!

Sneak Peeks Song Bird Scraps Challenge #2

Hi ladies, it seems like forever since we've talked! You won't believe this, but I had my computer back for one day, and it started shutting down again. When the guy at the shop removed the spyware, he thought that he had fixed the problem, but now it turned out that the cooling fan didn't work anymore, which led it to shut down because of overheating. Anyway, I blinked my eyes, played the helpless little woman who knows nothing about computers (which is true btw), pleaded with him to speed things up because I was going crazy without my internet, and ... one hour later I received a call I could pick it up. Isn't that nice LOL!

So, you'd think that without my computer, without spending hours browsing the internet visiting all of your lovely blogs, without looking at all the beautiful creations made by my friends at scrapbook.com, I would have done a lot of scrapping... well, think again! It seems that without my computer I also lost my will to scrap. Thankfully I had almost finished my LO for the second challenge over at Song Bird Scraps, and I'm able to show you a few peeks:

Not much to be seen, I know, but hopefully it gets you curious enough to check out the new challenge. The new lyrics will be posted on the 15th, don't forget!

I was also tagged by my friend Keandra to do a question and answer game. The rules are: Copy to your own note, erase my answers, enter yours, and randomly tag 10 people (including me). Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real. . .nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question.
Have Fun!!

1. What is your name: PEGGY
2. A four Letter Word: POPE
3. A boy's Name: PETER
4. A girl's Name: PRISCILLA
5. An occupation: POLICEMAN
6. A color: PURPLE
7. Something you wear: PANTS
8. A food: PINEAPPLE
9. Something found in the bathroom: PIECE OF SOAP
10. A place: PARIS
11. A reason for being late: PROBLEMS
12. Something you shout: POTVERDORIE (damn'it in dutch)
13. A movie title: PET SEMATARY
14. Something you drink: PINEAPPLE JUICE
15. A musical group: PINK FLOYD
16. An animal: PARROT
17. A street name: PRINS BOUDEWIJNLAAN (in Antwerp)
18. A type of car: PEUGEOT
19. Something scary: (s)PIDERS (hehe, couldn't think of anything else, not so easy in another language ...)
20. Ice cream flavor: PISTACHE

So, there you go. This doesn't say much about me I guess, but I did want to do this tag, I couldn't let Keandra down now could I??!!! I'm not going to tag anyone though, if you think this is something you'd like to do, just make believe I tagged you LOL.

That's it for now, I spent the entire day scrapping (yep, computers back and didn't look at one blog LOL), so I'm going to finish it tonight (I know, I know, a whole day on one tiny little LO ... I'm such a slow worker!!!!) and hopefully I'll be able to post it tomorrow.

Talk to you later my friends, take care!

I'm back / Blog candy

I'm back!

Last Wednesday, I tried to turn on the computer, but when trying to open Windows he got stuck... Like all people who have absolutely no clue about computers, I tried turning it off a few times in the hope that one of those times it would miraculously start working again (really, why would the fifth try give another result than the fourth, but anyway ...)

I had to get it to the shops to have it repaired and they found out spyware was causing the problem (though I have one of the best anti-virus programs ...) Anyway, I was without computer for three whole days ... disaster!!!! I was so scared I had lost some of my pictures ... my computer had been acting funny even the days before, so I had made back-ups of my pics, but after the complete shut-down I discovered I had forgotten several folders. My husband tried to tell me this wasn't a disaster, followed by a long list of real disasters, which didn't make me feel any better. On the contrary, I felt as depressed as before and even more so, because now I felt depressed and guilty as well for not having a real "disaster-" reason for feeling depressed LOL. Anyway, remember my LO with the glass having to be half full ... mine was half empty again, I just can't help it, I always think things will turn out bad.

In this case, they didn't ... I still have all my pictures, more than that, all programs are still good and running, I just had to plug him in and I could start working again. Unfortunately, our electricity started to act up, which meant someone had to check this out yesterday, which meant ... you guessed it ... no computer aaargh!!!

My house is a mess, but I don't care, today I'm going to read all the new entries of my blogging friends and maybe even start on some scrapping of my own. Today is all about me!!

Of course, I can never catch up ... I have over 300 emails in my inbox, most of them posts of new LO's of my friends at scrapbook.com. I'll never be able to answer them all, which kills me, I love receiving comments so I always try to leave comments myself, but in this case, I'll just have to delete them and try to catch up as they make new posts...

Sorry about nagging about this ladies, I just had to get this of my chest!

Now on to something a bit more fun:

Blog candy!

Check out this blog, over at Gauche Alchemy they are giving away so much stuff, you won't believe it. All you have to do to be included in the draw is put the link on your blog and leave a comment, so what are you waiting for!! You have until 2/11. Their February kit will be (or has been) revealed on Monday, 2/9, so have a look at that as well!

This was the first time I saw this blog, and I like it, there's loads of inspiration to be found there. I even found some tutorials on techniques and photoshop editing, so I'll definitely be following up on this one.

My LO for Songbirds Scraps!

Check out the newest challenge at the brandnew challenge site Songbirds Scraps! They will be posting 2 challenges a month, and there are beautiful prizes to be won, so do join in the fun!! All the members of the CT did their best to provide examples to inspire you to give this challenge a try. I already showed you some sneak peeks of mine, here's the LO in full:

Because of the lyrics, my first thought was to make a very romantic LO ... but as usual, it didn't turn out at all as I had envisioned it in my mind ... The word "lucky" made me think of playing cards, bingo cards, four-leaf clovers (I know I know, they're actually three-leaf clovers but never mind LOL). And of course, my husband being my best friend, I wanted to make a LO about us, but then I found these wonderful pics of my parents, which I thought were perfect for both the love as the friend part, so I decided to give those a try. Once I had made up my mind about the pictures and the embellies, I went through my paper stack, and no matter how hard I tried, I kept reaching for these rather funky papers in stead of the romantic ones ... it was like I didn't have a choice really, my mind was made up for me.
After putting everything in it's place, I felt something was still missing, so I decided to stitch, mimicking the pattern of the papers. That made a huge difference to the page.

I hope you like it, TFL!
